The Four C's

We serve an awesome God.  I am so amazed at His love for me.  God willingly gives us so many things.  You can see the beauty of the earth that He gave us to subdue.  You can sail the seven seas and see that vastness of that earth.  Today, we will see that God gives us "four C's" in Psalm 84!

This psalm was one of the eleven psalms written for the sons of Korah.  Korah underestimated worshiping and serving.  God which he paid dearly for.  The worship of God should be looked at as a privilege and honor.  The ability to approach God is no small matter.  As Christians, we have the ability to confidently approach God's throne of grace.  We should consider that to be a privilege.  We should not make the same mistake as Korah.  Psalm 84 reminds the descendants of Korah that were spared (Num 26:11) of the grace of God and it is defined with the four C's

First, the contentment of the bird.  The birds are looking for nothing more than rest, peace, and security. The place the bird is searching for will provide a place free from predators for the birds to raise their young.  The birds need to feel a true sense of belonging.

Second, the comfort of a pilgrim.  This pilgrim is traveling through a valley of weeping (Baca).  In the pilgrim's travels a spring is found.  What a comfort it must be for a pilgrim to find a spring.

Third, the confidence of a shield.  "No good thing is withheld" behind this shield.  A shield is a great defense to a warrior. The shield is just as important as his weapon.

PRIVILEGE
Finally, the confirmation of a privilege.  A privilege is a right or immunity to an individual under certain conditions.  Wow, a privilege is great thing to have.  The only thing better than having a privilege would be a confirmed privilege.

You see can have the four C's through Christ today.

We can have the contentment of the bird.  In the Lord's House Isa 2:2 (Christ's Church) we find a real sense of belonging and a sense of security that is free from predators.  In Christ we find rest. Mt 11:29   In Christ we find peace. Jn 14:27

We can have the comfort of the pilgrim.  We are pilgrims or aliens here on earth. 1Pe 2:11  This earth is not our home.  Our home is in heaven with the Lord.  We are just passing through here.  As pilgrims we are given a spring to ensure life while we are away from home.  Rev 21:6

We can have the confidence in the shield.  Since we are pilgrims here we have no self defense.  The Lord provides that too. Eph 6:16   Faith is a strong thing.  We pilgrims must make sure we strengthen our faith with study of the Word, both individually and collectively when the body of Christ assembles. Rom 10:17

We can have the confirmation of a privilege.  I said earlier that it is no small matter to approach God.  Well, it is a privilege to be called a son of God.  It is no small thing to be His child.  We have a confirmation that we have the privilege of calling ourselves His children.  W have the confirmation of the privilege that our past sins are forgiven through Christ. Mt 26:28 We have the confirmation of the privilege of eternal life. 1Jn 5:13

You see, we are pilgrims here searching for the same things as the bird.  Desiring a shield to protect us and a confirmation that we are a privileged child of God.  We get things through Christ and obedience to his word.  Today, thank God that He has provided you with the four C's!
